CONFIRMED: Housing market will remain open during Lockdown 3.0

housing market lockdown 3

The property market in England will remain open during the new lockdown period imposed by the Prime Minister on Monday.

The government advice on moving home during the coronavirus pandemic remains unchanged.

People in England will still be able to move home, however, people outside of your household or support bubble should not help with the moving process, unless it is absolutely necessary. Estate agents, removal firms and tradespeople can still continue to operate as normal.

Mark Hayward, Chief Policy Advisor at Propertymark stated: “We welcome the news that the housing market is to remain open throughout this new lockdown period, but it is essential that all agents continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus through following all relevant guidance on how to safely conduct viewings. It is vital that agents operate in accordance with government guidelines to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, keep movers and buyers safe and keep the housing market moving through these uncertain times.”

The confirmation from the government that the housing market will remain fully open and working throughout the entire lockdown period is positively reassuring for those searching for a property, thinking about selling, or in the process of buying or selling.

Following guidelines imposed by the government, we have gone above and beyond to modify how we work to reduce the risk from COVID-19. We will continue to provide both, virtual and home-visit valuations. We will also continue to offer virtual viewings for every property that goes onto the market with us, and in-person viewings will also go ahead as normal with the government guidelines put in place.

Our branches will continue to be temporarily closed to the general public. If you wish to speak face to face with a member of our team, a pre-booked appointment must be made. To make an appointment, contact your local branch via email, telephone, or live chat. Find your local branch here.
