Lagan’s Foundation | Miller Metcalfe’s Charity of the Year

Lagan’s Foundation

We are pleased to announce we have partnered with Lagan’s Foundation, a charity raising money to support families affected by heart defects or feeding difficulties.

Respite and support of any kind is invaluable. Lagan’s Foundation, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in England and Wales aims to physically help support families who have babies and children up to 5 years old, diagnosed with heart defects or feeding difficulties. The purpose of this charity is to provide unique at home and in hospital care to support parents in their caring role.

Lagan’s Foundation was set up by Carren Bell in memory of her beautiful baby daughter Lagan, who was diagnosed with Complex Heart Defects in September 2010 during an intrauterine Fetal Medicine Scan at 22 weeks. Lagan was born on 11st January 2011, and fought against all odds becoming stronger and stronger every day. Unfortunately, on 26th April 2011, Lagan became unstable and sadly passed away due to her condition.

“Lagan’s Foundation are over moon that such a fantastic and well known and loved organisation such as Miller Metcalfe have chosen us as their Charity of the Year. John Fletcher and the Team at Miller Metcalfe have a real passion to helping the community around them and we are excited to be part of this dedicated company. We are very much looking forward to working together over the coming 12 months and so please to have a number of staff from Miller Metcalfe along with their recognisable Green Cars volunteering at our Annual Cycle Challenge taking place on Sunday 29th April around Rivington.

Lagan’s Foundation are a unique charity based in Bolton but working nationally that support and provide respite services for families of children 5 and under with heart defects and feeding issues. Families with children with these issues have a stressful and difficult task ahead. With the help of organisations like Miller Metcalfe our charity and team of support workers can make a real difference to the lives of these families.” – Charlotte Othen – Lagans Foundation

A big part of our ethos is to give back to the local community in any way they can, so when we heard about the work Lagan’s Foundation do for families and children, we couldn’t wait to see how we could help. Throughout 2018, we will be organising various events to raise money for this fantastic cause.

On Sunday 29th April, Lagan’s Foundation will be hosting their Annual Cycle Challenge, with cyclists from around the country traveling to Rivington to take part in the ultimate test of fitness and endurance, with 3 levels of intensity covering as much as 106.37km.

Our MPeople have volunteered to marshall the event and will be dotted around the route to help the out during the day. Look our for our Miller Metcalfe Cars around the route If you would also like to volunteer at the event, feel free to contact charlotte@lagans.org.uk.
