The property market in England will remain open during the 4-week lockdown period imposed by the Prime Minister on Saturday.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick confirmed the news shortly after the Prime Ministers announcement on Twitter.

Tweeting “Q: Can I still move house? A: Yes – the housing market will remain open throughout this period. Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance.”

With full details to be revealed later this week, Mr Jenrick made it clear that “that ‘the housing market will remain open throughout this period. Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance” adding “They will need to follow social distancing guidance that has already been published.”

The confirmation from the government that the housing market will remain fully open and working throughout the entire lockdown period is positively reassuring for those searching for a property, thinking about selling, or in the process of buying or selling.

Following guidelines imposed by the government, we have gone above and beyond to modify how we work to reduce the risk from COVID-19. We will continue to provide both, virtual and home-visit valuations. We will also continue to offer virtual viewings for every property that goes onto the market with us, and in-person viewings will also go ahead as normal with the government guidelines put in place.

Our branches will continue to be temporarily closed to the general public. If you wish to speak face to face with a member of our team, a pre-booked appointment must be made. To make an appointment, contact your local branch via email, telephone, or live chat. Find your local branch here.
